Dealgan & Distaff - Day 8 of Tour de Fleece '24

Updated: Jul 17

Greetings! Thanks for joining me for another slow spin. This is my first Tour de Fleece and I wanted to share my journey with you.

Challenges:

- Learn to spin on a dealgan spindle

- Learn to use a distaff (I'm now trying a short broom to mimic a floor distaff)

- Spin a fractal for the first time

- Spin semi-woollen for the first time (since beginners spinning class)

New single, new distaff! I've decided to try a "floor" distaff, aka a short broom, to see if I like it better than the belt/niddy noddy version. This one won't let me spin while standing but my preference so far has been to sit with the distaff wedged in place so I don't have to handle it so much.

The dealgan is the second type of drop spindle I've ever tried. I'm not trying to spin every day, so my spinning days don't correspond with Tour de Fleece days.

Hope you have fun watching me stumble along!
